We Bought our Honda Element!

This idea started around the last week of December, so after a month we put some money behind our big talking. We were planning on using the AAA car buying service to get a good deal and avoid the new car buying experience. When we went to the dealership to decide on the final color, we ended up getting the same price straight from the dealership. They threw in a 3 hours of haggling with us at no extra charge! We will be driving the car down to San Diego next month for the ECamper conversion.

  1. Hey! This is a great idea. I have always wanted to drive from Alaska to Argentina. Your likely aware, but I figured I'd mention it anyway.

I was reading awhile ago about a couple that did this. I think it was around 2000. Some countries only sell leaded gas (hopefully this has changed). I believe the country he specifically mentioned was Bolivia. He also said, that at some points leaded gas was only available, even in countries that had unleaded available elsewhere.

I think this causes problems with the catalytic converter, which he had to remove after a period.

I'd *really* like to find that link, but it appears as though its lost...

    Good luck!

  2. I did read somewhere that you can find unleaded now in South America, but I cannot find the link again either to double check. I will post it when I find it again. Thanks!

  3. Hey, I'm already to leave to drive to rio. Let's caravan? I'm tootally self sufficient exept without a copilot. The more the merrier, right?
